March 23, Struggle and Success: The African American Experience in Japan. Film Screening and Discussion at the JANM. Co-Sponsored by the USC Program in American Studies and Ethnicity and USC Asian Pacific American Student Services. Struggle and Success: The African American Experience in Japan is the first documentary to thoroughly examine the complex relationships of African Americans and Japanese people. Regge Life, executive producer and director, initially went to Japan as an Artist Fellow with the Japan-U.S. Friendship Commission and Bunka-Cho. He is the recipient of many awards including a CINE Golden Eagle. 1:30 pm - 3:00
