Governor Gary Lock: http://www.governor.wa.gov/bios/family.htm
It was significant, no matter your political position, that Gary Lock was chosen to give the Democratic response (
http://www.governor.wa.gov/press/press-view.asp?pressRelease=1255&newsType=1)to President Bush's State of the Union Address (
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2002/01/20020129-11.html)A Bloomberg news commentator said Lock was probably chosen because he embodies the American Dream: He's working one mile away from where his father, a Chinese immigrant, worked as a servant. His father was there at D-Day, and today Mr. Lock is a state governor.
