Jan 18 Japanese American National Museum, 1:00 pm Little Tokyo: Spiritual Doors to the World, Panel discussion on the origins of the Pentecostal church, the nature of the lo cal community when the movement started in 1906, and how the church grew and impacted the neighborhood, the city, and eventually, the entire world.

Jan 19 Japanese American National Museum, 2:004:00 pm Taiko Jam Session with Hydaiko Taiko. Participants will have an opportunity to play taiko and learn about the origins and traditions of the big drum.
Jan 25 Japanese American National Museum, 1:00 pm Craft Class with Ryoko Shibata, Paper Crafts. In conjunction with the exhibition, Crafting History: Arts and Crafts from Americas Concentration Camps. Class fees are $5 for National Museum members and $11 for non-members, includes Museum admission and supplies.

Exhibition tour of Crafting History: Arts and Crafts from Americas Concentration Camps with curator Kristine Kim. Following the tour, artist Flora Ito will teach participants how to make bird pins out of alternative materials. Appropriate for children ages 10 and up. Feb 8 Sister Cities of Torrance and Kashiwa Celebrate 30th Anniversary at the James Armstrong Theater. The cultural performance starts at 8PM and is $15. Show includes Japanese song and dance, ballet, poetry, magic, incense burning, and tea service in the lobby.
Mar 1 Jazz pianist Makoto Takenaka will perform at the Coast Botanic Garden in PV Peninsula, 7:30PM and the New Otani Hotel in Little Tokyo on Mar 2 at noon.
